Ubisoft is looking to expand its offerings to the next-gen console generation, with Cyberpunk 2020 expected to hit PC and console in 2018.
The publisher is in talks with publishers like Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive and Warner Bros. about the possibility of releasing a Cyberpunk title on the new platforms, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal.
“Cyberpunk 2020 is the biggest title we’re looking at for next-generation,” said Michael Condrey, head of EA’s online gaming group.
“And it’s a game that’s going to really be a big hit on PC and consoles.”
Cyberpunks, a cyberpunk sci-fi adventure that first debuted in 2006, is set to arrive on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this year.
The game is set in the near future, with cyberpunk-inspired environments, including an artificial city called The Matrix.
The Wall Street Review says Ubisoft has been working on Cyberpunk2037 for more than a year, but the studio was not ready to share details at the time.
The article cites an unnamed Ubisoft executive as saying, “It’s going into development.
It’s not on a timeline.”
In March, Ubisoft posted a teaser trailer for Cyberpunk2020, in which an “unseen figure” walks through a futuristic cityscape and introduces himself as a “cyberpunk” to a crowd.
The clip also shows a man carrying a suitcase.
“We are looking at bringing the Cyberpunk experience to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC,” said the unnamed executive.
“It is not a linear experience, but it will be very much connected to the world we live in.”
The Wall Streets Review also cited another Ubisoft executive, saying that Ubisoft was “exploring a lot of ideas and concepts” to expand on Cyberpunks gameplay and gameplay systems.
In an interview with Gamasutra, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said he would like to see the Cyberpunk franchise expand on its existing IP, and he would “love to see” the company’s Cyberpunk games expand beyond the main Cyberpunky series.
“I think you could have a Cyberpunker for every age,” he said.
“A Cyberpunk on PC is not going to be a CyberPunk on PS4, and that’s what I’d like to do.
That would be a great idea.”
Cyberspy2037 is expected to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PC sometime in 2018, and the game will feature more realistic physics, realistic body models and realistic graphics.
